Belt and Road CPEC

Xu Yao, manager of the Infrastructure Department of Gwadar Free Zone Company Ltd. of China Overseas Ports Holding Company, inspects the port of Gwadar in Gwadar, Pakistan, on November 13, 2016.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) of 3,000 kilometers, which along the corridor, from Kashgar in the Uygur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang, northwest China, to the port of Gwadar in Pakistan, serves as an important channel to facilitate connections in roads, railways, gas and fiber optic between the countries along the corridor. The CPEC is a landmark project for China-Pakistan cooperation in the new era and an important pilot project for the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China.

Belt and Road Initiative

Building the port of Gwadar is a source of pride for Xu and his colleagues, Xu said. As the Belt and Road Initiative is boosted, exchanges between China and the countries along the routes have increased. Many young people have benefited from the friendly exchanges, through which they have acquired technical knowledge, have gained experience in life and have developed friendship and romance.

Since the Belt and Road Initiative was launched six years ago, the two “arches” have spread on land and sea. Bright talents emerge, the passions of youth emerge, sweet loves sprout and magnificent ambitions prosper.

Everything happens when the Belt and Road offers the opportunity to help many individual dreams come true. (Xinhua / Liu Tian)
